Yesterday, the admission letters were sent for Dreyfoos, Bak, and all of the other choice programs. I got the mail today with my sister. Mia made it into Bak and I'm really happy for her. She'll enjoy it there. As for me...I didn't get in. I didn't get the actual letter saying that I didn't get accepted, but I did get the scoring sheet for my audition. My score was a 4.0. The minimum score for sophomores was a 4.5. The judges marked a 4 for every single category, and I don't know why. They didn't write anything down about my audition. My vocal lesson teacher was positive that I would get a really good score. My mom texted him and he was shocked. I was confident that I did well in my audition. But the competition is much tougher for freshmen entering as sophomores. There were only one or two spots open for sophomores. But even if I did get in for sophomore year, I would be behind my grade for a year, meaning that I would have chorus and music theory with the incoming freshmen.
So I am staying in Park Vista. I like Park Vista. I made new friends and my classes are all sorted out. I'm going to take AP Music Theory next year, so I'll still be educated on music if I ever decide to pursue a career in music. But I'm thinking I want to probably be a nurse or a graphic designer when I grow up. I also applied to be in the medical program, but I didn't get accepted there either because I put it as a second choice, the first being Dreyfoos. I think I'll be put into a waiting list if there is one. If I'm not in the medical program, I'll just join HOSA. I did get accepted to be a part of the yearbook staff, so I am excited for that.
My life and my thoughts about my future have changed a lot since I left Bak. I didn't expect to like Park Vista as much as I really do. But as doors close, other doors open. Life changes, and I have to accept that.
